I am what is known as a Facultative anaerobic organism. That means that I can do both aerobic and anaerobic respiration whenever it is necessary or needed! Not to brag but that's a pretty cool thing to be able to do. I have the ability to make ATP by aerobic respiration whenever there is oxygen that is present. However, if there is no oxygen around me I also have the ability to switch to fermentation or anaerobic respiration.

With my metabolism, after I consume all of the carbohydrates that are provides by the animal diet I am able to cleave (split/sever) sucrose into glucose PLUS fructose. The fructose is then fermented as an energy source for my bacterial growth.
